FIBERWIND type mist eliminators of AWS Corporation are specifically made to remove mainly submicron liquid or soluble solid particles from an air or gas stream. They are similar to mesh pad mist eliminators except that the filaments are extremely fine fibres, randomly but very closely spaced.

In a typical FIBERWIND plant the raw gas loaden with oil mists, aerosol and solids enters first a set of prefilters where the solids and the bigger liquid droplets are removed.

The air flow is passed on to heat exchangers where the temperature is cooled down to the saturation point. During the cooling process, a submicron mist is formed by condensation.

The air is then carried on to the filtration chamber which is equipped with FIBERWIND type BM coalescing filters.
FIBERWIND mist eliminators of AWS Corporation are constructed in a cylindrical form (candle filters) between two concentric open mesh bed formers into which special fibres of various materials are either densely packed or wound or wrapped.

The principle of performance of the FIBERWIND coalescers is based on the Brownian movements of the submicron particles. Those movements are extremely rapid and random.

During the cross over of the special glass fibre bed, the submicron particles get in touch with special glass fibre and forming bigger droplets. The bigger droplets are pushed toward the opposite side of the fibre bed and then they fall down by gravity.

The cleaned up air is sucked by the blower and sent to the stack.

All the plants can be integrated with a heat recovery system producing hot water or hot air for reuse in the factory.
