What were the latest solutions adopted by our customers working in sulphuric acid and sulphonation plants? Let’s find out:

AWS MIST ELIMINATORS:
FIBERWIND BM CANDLE FILTERS

FIBERWINDTM type mist eliminators are specifically made to remove submicron liquid or soluble solid particles from air or gas streams.

In the pictures you will find a set of candle filters made of special glass fiber with external cages made in SS316L.

This is one of the most requested configurations for sulphonation plants: thanks to the Brownian mechanism, these fiberbed filters are specialized in removing sulphonic acid from the gas stream.

Candle demisters in Stainless steel are also available for sulphuric acid plants: for example, when installed in the SO3 scrubber section.

AWS MIST ELIMINATORS:
FIBERWIND IM CANDLE FILTERS

The small candle in the photo will be installed in a sulphonation production plant, specifically between the SO3 generator and the sulphonation reactor.

This peculiar filter has an external cage in SS316L, filled with glass fiber filtering media mattress + mesh layers in SS316L.

The main function of this demister is to remove SO3 aerosol from the gas stream.

The collection efficiency is usually 100% for all particles larger than 3 microns, and 90-97% for all particles larger than 1 micron.

In sulphuric acid plants, IM candles can be installed either inside the drying tower, or in the final absorption tower.

FIBERWIND BM DOUBLE CANDLE FILTERS

Double candles simply are Fiberwind BM candles that aim to work twice their colleagues!

Joking aside, double candles are extremely useful when customers cope with an imminent increase of production:

We suggest our Fiberwind double candles when the flowrate is higher, but the vessel dimension cannot be modified.

The filters keep the same dimension, but the total filtering media area is approx. 50% more than standard candles.

FIBERWIND BM CANDLE FILTERS - WITH FRP CAGE

In the picture you can see a BM Fiberwind demister with FRP cage: this type of filter is going to be installed in a sulphuric acid plant.

FRP cages are suitable when installed in an environment with low concentration of sulphuric acid, to remove sulphuric acid mist from the gas stream.

In this specific case the customer needed to remove oleum fumes generated during truck loading and unloading of oleum into the oleum tower.
